4 Weeks

We are down to 4 weeks of school left!  I can't believe time has gone so quickly this year.

The C-1 Sophomores have completed Schindler's List and will be working on another documentary based on Schindler's List entitled Inheritance.  It is the story of Amon Goeth's daughter Monika who reaches out to Helen, the woman who was Goeth's maid at Plaszow for two years.  It is very moving.  Also, Sophomore writing journals are due June 15.

Honors Sophomores have been doing an excellent job teaching the novel Our Nig.  We will finish up in about two more weeks.

The Freshmen completed Great Expectations on Friday and are working on their writing projects for the end of the year.  They are due on June 15.

Biology MCAS is tomorrow and Thursday for Sophomores.

5 Weeks Left

Hello Everyone,

The Sophomores finished up another round of MCAS this week.  This time it was math.  The next, and final round of MCAS will be Biology on June 1st and 2nd.

C1 Sophomore classes have been given their final project of the year - the Writing Project.  This is a series of 15 different creative writing assignments students must complete in their journals, to be handed in on June 15th.

Sophomore Honors will embark on an ambitious team teaching effort of the novel Our Nig, by Harriet Wilson.  Students have been placed in groups and will be responsible for teaching two chapters to the class.  In addition, they will be responsible for reading The Catcher in the Rye outside of school and complete a series of assignments on it, due June 18th.

Freshmen are finishing final touches on Dickens' novel Great Expectations.  They will be taking a final test and completing an essay on the novel over the course of the next two weeks.  To finish the year, they will complete their own version of the Writing Project, due on June 17th.

Again, any questions, please email.

Thanks,

8 Weeks Left

Hello,

Only 8 weeks of school left and so much remains to do!  It seems as if students are suffering from Spring Fever a bit too soon.  There is a severe lack of work ethic lately in room 115.  However, this does not apply to my C-Block Sophomores.  I can always count on them!

Sophomores in my C-1 classes have just finished working on Catcher in the Rye.  We will have a test next week and we will begin work on our "Diagnosing Holden" paper, to be due the following week.

Sophomore Honors have been working on Henry V.  We will be finishing the play next week and students will be working in groups to complete a video project for the following week.  Our test will be next week on Henry V.

Freshmen have been working on Great Expectations.  We have finished the first stage of the book and are halfway though the second stage currently.  We will be having a quiz on stage 2 next week.

Sophomores second round of MCAS tests are on May 17-18.  These will be the Math exams.

As always, any questions, please email.

End of Third Quarter

Hello,

Today marks the end of the third quarter.  We only have 10 weeks of school left, but there is still so much left to do!  The Sophomores still have the math and biology MCAS to take.  The Freshmen began work on Charles Dickens' classic, Great Expectations yesterday with an introduction to the author's life and times.  Currently, Sophomore C-1 classes are working on J.D. Salinger's classic novel The Catcher in the Rye.  The Sophomore Honors class has immersed itself in the glories of Shakespeare's most famous history, Henry V

As always, please feel free to email any questions or concerns.

Thanks!
